LogisVert is expanding its offer to make heat pumps more accessible

To help modest‑income households use electricity more efficiently and improve their comfort, Hydro‑Québec is expanding its current offer to make heat pumps more accessible.

Significant bonus financing for multi-unit dwellings

As of June 15, Hydro‑Québec, in collaboration with the Ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP), will offer bonus financing for the purchase and installation of heat pumps.

This bonus financing is intended for owners of multi-unit dwellings whose buildings meet the criteria established by Hydro‑Québec.

It applies to the installation of ENERGY STAR®-certified Cold Climate wall-mounted heat pumps and provides financial assistance that is over 80% higher than the current grant available under the Heat Pump Measure, which is equivalent to $100 per 1,000 BTU/h at ‑8 °C, when all requirements are met.

To be eligible, the building must:

  • Have two or more residential units;
  • Be located in an area that is designated "energy insecure";
  • Have been built in 1995 or earlier.

All criteria, including eligible zones, will be listed on the website at launch. They will be used to identify the buildings for which the grant will have the greatest impact. Note that the bonus financing will apply only to heat pump installations carried out after the Bonus Financing Measure takes effect, which is scheduled for June 2026.

Why choose heat pumps?

In residential buildings, heating accounts for more than 50% of electricity use, and heat pumps are one of the most effective ways to reduce electricity use and improve comfort.

Heat pumps offer a range of key benefits. They can be up to three times more efficient than electric baseboard heaters during the heating season. What's more, a single system provides efficient heating in winter and cooling in summer while maintaining more stable indoor temperatures. Heat pumps are among the most effective solutions to reduce electricity use in winter without compromising comfort.

For tenants, heat pumps help make homes more comfortable and better adapted to temperature variations and reduce their electricity bill.

For owners, these new offers provide an opportunity to modernize buildings, improve energy performance and add long-term value to the building inventory.

A long-term commitment to wiser electricity use

With this new bonus financing, Hydro‑Québec is reaffirming its commitment to support modest‑income households and encourage the adoption of energy-efficient solutions.

By making heat pumps more accessible, we're helping to reduce electricity use and enhance comfort in homes today and for years to come.
