Eligible home: A newly constructed house located in Québec and that receives its electricity from the Hydro‑Québec grid or from a municipal or cooperative system.

Eligible measures

For your request for financial assistance to be eligible, all measures related to this option must have been implemented and must meet the following conditions:

Geothermal heat pump

The heat pump must have a minimum power of 18,000 BTU/h.
One or more geothermal wells must be drilled vertically or horizontally with a sufficient heat transfer surface to respect the capacity of the heat pump.
The complete system, including the heat pump and the indoor unit(s), must meet the following requirements:
- It must be new.
- It must have been purchased from a Québec retailer or online from a retailer with an address in Québec.
- It must have been installed in an eligible home.

ENERGY STAR^® air exchanger

The air exchanger must meet the following requirements:

It must be new.
It must be an ENERGY STAR^® certified model.
It must have been purchased from a Québec retailer or online from a retailer with an address in Québec.
It must have been installed in an eligible home.

Eligible work

To be eligible, the work must meet the following requirements:

Geothermal heat pump

The work must involve the complete installation of one or more geothermal wells with a collector and one or more geothermal heat pumps for heating and air-conditioning purposes. All the geothermal heat pumps installed must work simultaneously in heating mode, in all conditions. In addition, the capacity of the geothermal well(s) must cover the total capacity (in BTU) of the geothermal heat pumps installed.
The contractor that conducts the work must be listed on the Registraire des entreprises du Québec and have the appropriate licences issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) based on the work required.

ENERGY STAR^® air exchanger

The contractor that conducts the work must be listed on the Registraire des entreprises du Québec and have the appropriate licences issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) based on the work required.

Financial assistance

Hydro‑Québec provides financial assistance in the amount of $750 per 1,000 BTU/h for this option when all Program requirements are met.

For this option, financial assistance for the purchase and installation of a geothermal heat pump will be capped at $54,000 per address, which is equivalent to a total capacity of 72,000 BTU/h (6 t).

The complete system, including the outdoor unit and the indoor unit(s), must meet the following requirements:
- It must be new.
- It must be an ENERGY STAR^® certified model.
- The outdoor unit must have a minimum nominal cooling capacity of 12,000 BTU/h (for air-conditioning).
- It must have been purchased from a Québec retailer or online from a retailer with an address in Québec.
- It must have been installed in an eligible home.

The company that conducts the work must be listed on the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, have the appropriate licences issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) based on the work required, and be a member of the professional body associated with the activity sector in question.

ENERGY STAR^® air exchanger

The contractor that conducts the work must be listed on the Registraire des entreprises du Québec and have the appropriate licences issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) based on the work required.

Ineligible work

The following work is not eligible:

ENERGY STAR^® Cold Climate heat pump

The installation of indoor units, including the air distribution system, outside the home’s insulated areas, that is, outside the habitable spaces (e.g., in the attic or roof space).

Financial assistance

Hydro‑Québec provides financial assistance in the amount of $140 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C for this option when all Program requirements are met.

Hydro‑Québec provides financial assistance in the amount of $22,000 for this option when all Program requirements are met.

A high-efficiency heat pump that qualifies for the Program must be installed at each address.
The system implemented at each address must be a wall-mounted, air-to-air mini-split heat pump that includes one or more indoor units and one outdoor unit.
The complete system, including the outdoor unit and indoor unit(s), must meet the following requirements:
- It must be new.
- It must be an ENERGY STAR^® certified model.
- The outdoor unit must have a minimum nominal cooling capacity of 12,000 BTU/h (for air-conditioning).
- It must have been purchased from a Québec retailer or online from a retailer with an address in Québec.
- It must be installed in an eligible home.

Solar thermal collectors for hot water

The collectors must meet the following requirements:

Eligible work

To be eligible, the work must meet the following requirements.

ENERGY STAR^® Cold Climate heat pump

The work must involve the installation of a heat pump for heating and air-conditioning purposes.
The company that conducts the work must be listed on the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, have the appropriate licences issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) based on the work required, and be a member of the professional body associated with the activity sector in question.

Solar thermal collectors for hot water

Solar thermal collectors must be connected to the domestic hot water circuit of the eligible home.
At least half of the water heaters in the multiplex must be preheated by solar thermal collectors.
The contractor that conducts the work must be listed on the Registraire des entreprises du Québec and have the appropriate licences issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) based on the work required.

Ineligible work

The following work is not eligible:

ENERGY STAR^® Cold Climate heat pump

The installation of indoor units, including the air distribution system, outside the home’s insulated areas, that is, outside the habitable spaces (e.g., in the attic or roof space).

Financial assistance

Hydro‑Québec provides financial assistance in the amount of $175 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C for this option when all Program requirements are met.

Required documents and information

You must provide all required documents and ensure they contain the requested information.

Proof of homeownership

An electronic copy of the building permit and any legal documents demonstrating the connection between the builder and the eligible home.

Photos

Clear picture of the nameplate on the outdoor unit indicating the model number and the serial number of the heat pump (one picture per model).
Clear picture of the solar thermal collectors installed.
Clear picture of the connection between the solar thermal collectors and the eligible building’s hot water circuit.
An electronic copy or clear picture of the builder’s RBQ licence.
