Demand Response Options
Businesses and organizations that are registered for a Demand Response (DR) Option benefit from a credit on their bill at the end of the winter period when they reduce their power demand at Hydro‑Québec's request.
Who are the Demand Response Options designed for?

DR Leeway Option
The Demand Response Leeway Option applies to the Rate DM, Rate DP, Rate G, Rate H, Rate M, Rate G9 or Rate LG contract of a business or organization capable of reducing their power demand during the winter period at Hydro‑Québec's request. It will apply to the Rate L contract of a business whose power demand during the 12 consumption periods preceding the sign‑up date is lower than 50,000 kilowatts.
DR Commitment Option
The Demand Response Commitment Option applies to the Rate G, Rate M, Rate L or Rate LG contract of a business or organization that is able to curtail power during the winter period and is not already providing interruptible power at the same delivery point or is not benefiting from the conditions that apply to the running in or testing of equipment.

DR Leeway Option
- Annual agreement, renewable on a yearly basis
- A maximum of two peak demand events per day
- Choice of participation level – weekdays only or weekdays and weekends
- Credits granted based on amount of power curtailed and diligent participation
DR Commitment Option
- Availability of a multi‑year commitment with a higher credit
- Choice in the number of peak demand events per day
- Choice in the days you wish to participate – weekdays only or weekdays and weekends
- Consistent performance leads to a higher credit
