Public consultation and participation

Your opinion is important. We work with the communities concerned to create projects that meet your needs and your environment. Together, we are designing the best projects for everyone.

Why do we consult you?

Knowing what you think and what your concerns are is key to creating projects that integrate harmoniously into your environment and benefit everyone. Thanks to your participation, we are able to adapt our projects to local. That’s why we consult you several times – during key stage of a major project.

Who takes part?

We can consult with a wide range of people and organizations depending on the project and host environment:

  • Municipalities (local and regional)
  • Governments (provincial and federal)
  • Members of the National Assembly
  • First Nations and Inuit
  • Residents (affected landowners, neighbouring residents and the general public)
  • Environmental organizations (local, regional and national)
  • Representatives of farms and woodlands (such as the Union des producteurs agricoles [UPA])
  • Land users (vacation associations, hunting and fishing clubs, etc.)
  • Interest groups (community groups, citizen associations)
  • Contractors and suppliers
  • Media

How and when can you participate?

Depending on the nature and context of the project, we generally carry out the following:

  • Preconsultation
  • Project presentation
  • Project consultation
  • Annoucement of the solution selected or optimized project
  • Work information

Further to these activities, you will be able to share your expectations and concerns with us in many different ways:

  • In-person meetings (open houses, meetings)
  • Online consultations
  • Telephone and email exchanges

For key information about each project and the dates and locations of upcoming public consultations, consult our current projects. Learn more about the projects near you and share your ideas!

Our commitment to the environment

In parallel with these activities, we pursue a rigorous environmental process with the aim of understanding the environment, anticipating impacts and implementing solutions to keep them to a minimum. This approach helps us to develop responsible projects that protect nature and respect communities.
